This project was carried out to highlight the basic knowledge of the impact of environmental factors on business performance (A case study of West African Portland Cement, Ewekoro). In Ogun State during the excursion of the project, some interrogations were made in the industry in order to get fact as related to my study. The research work carried out contained five chapters. The chapter one of the research work contain (i.e.) the introduction (Background of the study), objectives of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study, limitation of the study, research questions, research hypothesis, historical background of the study, definition of terms. In chapter two of the research work the literature related to the topic and the socio-culture environment. The chapter three of the research work was based on the research methodology, the method of investigation, instrument and data analysis techniques. The chapter four of research work was concerned on the presentation and analysis discussion of the data and hypothesis testing of the research work. The chapter five, which is the last chapter of the chapter of the project highlight on summary of finding conclusion drawn from the finding and finally from the study.
1.0 INTRODUCTION – BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The word business has attracted various responses from different person and scholars. Business from whatever angle, is seen involves organized activities. People as individual and group are always involved in the organization of business. Some business activities in our environment engages in manufacturing of new product of some engage manufacturing others are involved in the distribution, while some engage in marketing of other business goods. Professional services such as insurance legal, teaching, media and broadcasting to mention just few in this category.
In a more general sense, however, the word business is used to mean trade or commerce, art of buying and selling in our environment today. With the technological innovation and the consequent emergence of business organization and commercial establishment, the impact of business transcends the narrow economic viewpoint as society has rapidly more department on the business instruction as employer, innovator and catalyst for social change and government culture.
Thus, business becomes a social institution, interrelating in other elements of the social environments that is religion, economy, politics and culture.
